Counterpart Photos

Biography

Michaella Jelin-Till is a US based photographer and was born in 1994 in Royal Oak, Michigan.

Throughout her middle & high school years, she always had a camera in hand, being the designated “photographer” of any friend group, taking little snapshots of her life & the people in it, always looking to find beauty in the ordinary and preserve the fleeting moments.  She went on to get her BFA in graphic design at Georgia State University and along her college journey, stumbled into an internship working for two wedding photographers.  She quickly fell in love with the combined chaos and intimacy that comes with wedding days and hasn’t looked back since.

Her photography is greatly influenced by both her design background, and her training in classical music.  Her photos feel the way a cello sounds like the human voice; genuine, intimate, warm, rich, melodic, human. Images that feel personal and spontaneous and are full of energy and life, as if they could only have been taken by someone as close as your best friend.  Her work has often been described as “instant nostalgia”.

In 2020, New York based Rangefinder Magazine named her one of the 30 Rising Stars of wedding photography.
